The 27th edition of the livestock show Sommet De L‘Elevage, which took place in the first week of October in Clermont-Ferrand, France, attracted 95,000 visitors.

Although the total number of visitors was stable, compared to last year, the organisers saw an increase of 8% in the number of international visitors (4,800 international visitors from 84 countries). For the first time, the show attracted people from Ethiopia, Ecuador and Vietnam. Regarding official visits, the show welcomed the Turkish Minister of Agriculture, Dr Bekir Pakdemirli, who was accompanied during his visit by Jacques Mezard, the French Minister for Territorial Cohesion, the Zambian Ambassador to France, the Ugandan Livestock Minister and the Romanian Secretary of State for Agriculture.

Innovation awards

The “Sommets d’Or” competition rewards exhibitors presenting equipment, products or services that are innovative in terms of their manufacture, safety features, or ergonomics. Among others, awards went to Pöttinger for their Novacat 352 Crossflow disc mower, the Surlock hinges and locks from the company Jourdain, the MS AutoHoffClean from Schippers France, and the online platform AutoSysEl, developed by Institut de l’Élevage. National breeding championships

The Salers breed National Championships is an important moment to bring breeders together to showcase national and international cattle breeds. Around 2,000 animals representing 70 different breeds were on show (cattle, sheep and horses).

The next edition of Sommet De L’Elevage is from 2-4 October, 2019. This edition will also host the Blonde d’Aquitaine National Breed Championships.
