VikingGenetics launches new research project

A new research project launched by VikingGenetics enables measuring how much feed a cow consumes – with the use of Artificial Intelligence and 3D cameras. With this data, farmers can select for more feed efficient and climate friendly cows. The total budget for the project is €3 million granted by different entities participating on it and has recently been granted €1.8 million by the Danish Innovation Found.

Lallemand strengthens its team

Lallemand has made some new appointments recently. Laurie Guillot joined the Ruminant Center of Excellence based at UMR MEDIS, INRAE Rhône Alpes Auvergne-University of Clermont Auvergne as a research project leader. Guillot will lead some research projects applying molecular biology based approaches — OMICS — to document the mode of action of Lallemand Animal Nutrition products and will develop new methods and models.

Richard Scuderi joined the Forage Center of Excellence in Chazy, N.Y. (USA). Scuderi will lead some innovative research projects applying OMICS technologies to characterize Lallemand Animal Nutrition bacteria strains and investigate the application of forage inoculants during ensiling and their subsequent animal performance during feedout.

Trouw Nutrition announces new COO

After a career at Nutreco spanning over 19 years, Harm de Wildt has announced he will retire from the company at the end of 2020. Saskia Korink will take on the role of Nutreco chief operating officer and CEO Trouw Nutrition, from August 15. Until the end of the year, Harm will support Saskia in her transition into the role and lead a number of key projects. He will continue to report into Nutreco CEO Rob Koremans.

Deosan launching new range of teat disinfectants

Deosan is launching a new range of teat disinfectants which aim to meet future consumer, milk buyer and farmer requirements. The first product of the range is now available; Deosan Target Pre-Post is designed as a pre and post milking product for all housed cattle. It is available as a ready to use foam, dip or spray for pre-milking, and as a dip or spray for post milking. The near neutral PH also increases active disinfection. The active ingredient in the new range, Chlorhexidine, is extremely effective disinfectant.

De Heus Animal Nutrition to acquire Golpasz in Poland

On 1 July 2020, De Heus Animal Nutrition signed an agreement for the acquisition of the Polish compound feed company Golpasz. The acquisition is still subject to approval from the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). With an annual production capacity of 500,000 tonnes of compound feed, Golpasz is one of the leading feed producers in Poland. Golpasz offers a complete range of compound feeds for multiple animal categories, including turkey, broilers, pigs and cattle (meat and milk).

Lely announces fourth member for its supervisory board

The newly formed Supervisory Board of Lely is now complete with the appointment of Lisbet Thyge Frandsen as its fourth and final member. Lisbet Thyge Frandsen, a Danish national, has held various board member positions within the pump industry, IT, robot technology and the consulting engineering industry, for both large international businesses as well as small growth companies. Other members of Lely’s Supervisory Board are: Alexander van der Lely (chairman), Dirk de Groot and John Quist.

Zinpro Corporation: New dairy sales representative

Zinpro Corporation, announced that Dr Alexander Radionov, Ph.D., has joined as dairy account manager. Based in Moscow, he will provide customers with commercial and technical support for the company’s animal nutrition products, hoof-health management programs and species-specific business solutions. Dr Radionov brings to the position more than 20 years of dairy experience, most recently as the ruminant technical director for a global food and agriculture company.
