On Friday February 2nd, we received the sad message that our beloved friend – Bram Prins – passed away suddenly.

Bram had a surgery on January 26th, for the second time in a short period of time. Due to complications of this second surgery Bram passed away.

Bram was the founder of Global Dairy Farmers and was a driving force behind many organizations, events and projects that would enhance dairy farmers’ knowledge and well-being worldwide. Bram was passionate about bringing the right people together, to transfer his knowledge to those who are hungry for it. Farmers, other dairy experts and students have all had the opportunity to learn from Bram. Especially teaching the next generation was what he loved to do. Aeres University was the place where he could practice this passion for teaching.

Since the founding of Dairy Global magazine in 2014, Bram Prins has been a solid contributor with his opinion articles. Dairy Global editor Emmy Koeleman: “We will all miss Bram. It was always a pleasure to work with him and many people around the world enjoyed reading his blogs and articles. He always had a sharp view on issues that face dairy farmers around the world. I wish his wife Dina, his children and family, friends and colleagues all the strength in the world to cope with their loss.”

At the recently held VIV MEA in Abu Dhabi, many people remembered Bram from his great contributions to the sector and work with students. Dr Abdulaziz M. Al-Ateeqi, vice chairman of the Union of Fresh Dairy Producers in Kuwait remembered Bram as a true friend and collaborator. He made a plaque for Bram to thank him for his support, encouragement and facilitation of the internship programme of 6 students from Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Kuwait dairy farms, during the period 2016/2017. He brought this to seminar of Global Dairy Farmers at the VIV.

Bram was 67 years of age.
